Only runs with choke engaged

You rebuilt my carb in 2013/14....I can't locate the video you sent me of it running in your shop, but finally got it installed in my Hurricane Sandy swamped 3A and got it running. I had problems with it leaking fuel ( I think the metering rod was getting stuck) so I carefully tightened the screws on the bowl and had it running for about 25 minutes yesterday, but it would only really idle roughly with the choke all the way out. I had the choke halfway in at first and was using the throttle to keep it running. I felt a little gas leak on my arm with the fan blowing so hard but very little compared to when it was leaking. (I was tapping the bowl with the back of the screwdriver while I had it running to keep the Metering rod from sticking ) I do not want to touch any of the settings you created when you rebuilt it, so I'm wondering where to look next. I think the PCV valve could be causing the rough idle as I had it running in the past w/o it. I also have a vacuum hose from the distrubuter plugged right now so I'm not sure how that might affect it. (I don't know where that vacuum line goes to? Hope you can help me figure this out.

Rick, Yeah its been a while...I kept the carb in the shipping box for about a year before I hooked it up...haven't had a lot of time to play with the jeep...when I did get the jeep running I had so much Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders and everywhere else that it smoked like a chimney for about 20 minutes as it cooked off.

What size fitting should that vacuum port be? Should the fitting get teflon tape or not.
I don't have an exhaust pipe on it right now, could that cause problems once I get one on it? Backpressure?

What is the size of the fitting? 1/4" or 3/16" Is Rubber hose ok for this use (barbed fitting to pipe fitting)?
