Hi,
I have a 1955 CJ-5 with an F4-134. The Carburetor I have is a Carter YF 938SD. It does not have the vacuum advance port on the base. The head on my F4-134 has a vacuum port right next to the carp mount (slightly to the front of the jeep) that is presently plugged with a 1/4 NPT plug.
It seems that the vacuum port on the YF 938SD would be below the throttle plate making it manifold vacuum rather than ported vacuum.
Can I connect the vacuum advance on the distributor to the manifold vacuum port just in front of the carb on the head?
Thanks so much!

No. The port in the intake manifold is for the PCV system. You need a throttle with the vacuum port in it in order to use the vacuum advance. Vacuum advance requires pre-throttle plate vacuum.
