I have noticed that the top of the forward manifold stud is very very close to touching a boss on the carb throttle body when I tighten the carb down to the manifold. I am using a NOS carb and NOS gasket with diffuser.

I looked at two old intake manifolds I have. One had a stud cut shorter. The other had the stud bent forward. Both interventions to solve this same problem?

Is this a known issue?

What is the fix? Trim the stud shorter by a few mm?

The wrong stud was installed. Either find a shorter one or remove a couple of mm. Even with the correct stud, nut installation requires the carb be lifted slightly to place it.

Thanks Rick. I did trim the stud this past weekend by about 2 threads. It looks much better and won't hit the throttle body now. I made sure I used a lock washer when I put the carb back on.
