BTW. The brass plate on the engine itself gives the model number as a Continental F227A. A supplement to the Hyster service manual specs the F227 (note no 'A') as:
Cylinders: 6
Bore: 3-5/16
Stroke: 4-3/8
Displacement: 226 cu. in.
HP: 73 @ 2800 RPM
Compression ratio: 7.5:1
What I am assuming is the cylinder pressure: 'Normal at 150 RPM 160+-5'

Okay, so nothing from the engine number. Back to my original post.

Given that the 3200S works on the engine, any thoughts on how best to fix the issues with the carb?
