At the Aurora, OH show, Doc Dave presented to me a challenge. He asked, "Do you think you could save this one?" I looked over the crusty hunk of extremely rusty iron, steel, and corroded, pitted Zamac and accepted the challenge. Here are some photos of the progress. It has been slow and painstaking to disassemble it without too much damage. The only casualties so far are the two butterfly plates, the throttle shaft, and the insulator. All need replacement anyway.Attachments:

Here's an update on Dave's 539S. Cleaned and Bead Blasted. Top and choke housing brushed. Fresh bushings in the flange and now ready to mill the new shaft. Some hardware will be replaced due to excessive corrosion.
